DOMESTIC WATER TESTING:

Is water testing necessary if you have public water?

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that if you have reason to think that your water supply is contaminated, than yes you should have your domestic water tested. City supplied water is monitored by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The EPA regulates public water systems but do not regulate privately owned well systems.

As a private well owner, should you have you well water tested?

CDC says yes, as a private well owner you are responsible for testing your well to ensure the water is safe to drink.

What contaminates should you be testing for?

CDC states that you should test for Coliform bacteria, nitrates and lead.

How often should you test water?

CDC says to test your well water at least once a year.
